Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Approves 10 Pesticide Products to Use on Hemp

Recently, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has approved ten pesticide products to control diseases, pests, and insects. The federal regulators approved nine biopesticides and one conventional pesticide to make legalized hemp crops as a national commodity.

Now, the hemp cultivators can use new protection tools in 2020 given by the federal regulators after the approval of hemp pesticides.

Sonny Perdue, the US Secretary of Agriculture, said that the EPA is taking action to help hemp farmers in growing hemp without pests in the first growing season of 2020.

The EPA approved the use of pesticides to ensure that the pests do not damage the plants as well as the environment, and the plants must be safe for later use by the public.

Approving of pesticides for hemp plants is an excellent decision by EPA in the entire cannabis industry. Indeed, marijuana is still illegal, and no pesticides can be used on marijuana plants legally. The EPA’s hemp pesticides announcement ensures the federal government that there is a use of safe chemicals on cannabis.

According to the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA), the new announcement by EPA is an initial step for the US hemp cultivators in protecting hemp crops.

All the 10 Hemp pest-control products are approved under the FIFRA (Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act). The act enacted in 1947 was to protect the farmers and their crops by providing pesticides and use it accurately, as mentioned in labels.
